Road Trip 2017: Pittsburgh

You could not ask for a better weekend of baseball than we had at Pittsburgh in June 2017. Okay, a sweep would have made it a just a little better. Weather was beautiful and the rain waited until we were headed out of town to start on Sunday evening.

We left in a hurry early on Friday morning for Pittsburgh when I finally noticed that my Pennsylvania raised brother-in-law was wearing a vintage Pirates jersey. While I appreciate the throwback jersey it was not the team we were going to root for and I could not throw him out of the car since he was driving. I just tried not to look at his shirt.

The weather was beautiful and at every rest stop we stopped along the way people were wearing Cubby blue as we were not the only Cub fans making this weekend trip. We setup our base a little out of town and drove in for each game. On Friday night we decided to take a boat ride to and from the stadium. I highly recommend this way to visit the ballpark for the first time. On Saturday and Sunday we walled across the Roberto Clemente Bridge after parking downtown. This ballpark is beautiful with spectacular view of the city.

We did get a tour of the campus of the University of Pittsburgh and the city on Saturday before the night game. Beautiful urban campus and a nice city.

We did see the Cubs win on Friday and Sunday so we could hold the W flag for the traditional picture. The people in Pittsburgh were very hospitable.
