Perfect Storm Road Trip 2018: Chase Field – April 2, 2018

Los Angeles Dodgers at Arizona Diamondback in Phoenix, Arizona

Pat at Chase StadiumAfter visiting family over Easter weekend in Nevada I headed to Phoenix on Monday, April 2, 2018 to see the Diamondbacks host the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Dodger fan were well represented at Chase Field on this Monday night. It was an early start for a game that went a lot longer than I anticipated thanks to some late inning heroics by the home team.

Chase stadium is located in what seemed to be an industrial section of the city and felt kind of like a warehouse when I initially walked into the stadium. This feeling disappeared as they opened these giant like windows in the outfield and rolled back the roof. Once they did this the Chase Field felt more like a baseball field.

One thing I noticed when I entered the stadium was that they had mascot figures of old Diamondback players. It was kind of odd to see the Original 17 (Mark Grace) as a costumed character in a Diamondback uniform.

I sat down the third baseline in the upper deck and had a great view of the field. During the seventh inning I walked into the outfield area to take some pictures. They had a children’s area and food vendors in this area that was really family friendly.

I thought I would watch the last inning behind home plate and this turned into six innings as the Diamondbacks tied the game with two outs in the bottom of the ninth. The game finally ended after 15 innings with the Diamondbacks winning, As much as I liked the stadium and the game I was ready to leave since it was after midnight and I had a six hour drive the next day.
